At the Ubisoft Forward Showcase, Skull & Bones reveals new gameplay and a release date.
Skull and Bones was presented today at Ubisoft Forward. The game will launch on November 8 on PC, PS5, Stadia, and Xbox Series X/S, according to the presentation. The gameplay of Skull and Bones clearly emphasizes naval fighting, and the game’s director, Ryan Barnard, confirmed to news organizations that there is no ground combat in the game. Although exploration and treasure hunting are options, battle takes center stage. Players begin as a shipwreck survivor, crafting a dhow to survive and using a spear on it to fight off crocodiles and hippos. Players must employ a progression mechanism called Infamy to become the lord of the Indian Ocean, which will swiftly upgrade to Pirate Hunters, faction ships, forts, and more.
There are three types of ships, according to Barnard: Cargo ships, which are better for storage; Navigation ships, which are faster and more nimble; and Firepower ships, which are more effective in battle than the other two categories. There are a total of 12 different Skull and Bones ships that players can create, each with a different size and appearance. According to Barnard, users can create up to 40 replicas of each ship in case they misplace one during PvP or somewhere else.
It should be noted that Ubisoft is marketing Skull and Bones as a multiplayer-focused live-service game featuring PvP servers for gamers who want to engage in combat. It can, however, be finished totally by yourself. It should be emphasized that Skull and Bones is not a narrative game with a large overall plot, but there will be minor stories conveyed through the groups and seafarers players interact with on the Open Sea for those who are interested in learning more about the pirate world.
