Battlefield 2042: Reveals Year One Plans

Dice has revealed its post-launch plans for the first year of Battlefield 2042 and there’s a lot of content on the way for the multiplayer-only title.

“In our first year of live service, we will deliver four Seasons, with four Battle Passes, four new Specialists, and new locations along with more fresh content,” Dice’s blog post reads. “We also intend to deliver updates to Battlefield Portal that will give players more ways to build and share new Battlefield experiences with the world.”

Continuing in the blog, Dice says for Season 1, expect a new Specialist, one Battle Pass, and some additional Portal content. They even tease that players might see some “new sights” (presumably by way of new maps) as the story of 2042 unfolds. More details regarding that will be shared early next year, Dice says.

“During launch, we’ll also kick off the Preseason with Weekly Missions and Rewards, Limited Time Modes, featured Creator Spotlights and experiences in Battlefield Portal, and more,” the blog post reads.

More Than Fifty Games Now Incompatible With New Intel CPU

Intel has been on people’s radars a lot recently. Not only is the company getting ready to launch its own brand of third-party graphics cards next year, but the new i9-12900K processor was launched this month. However, there have been some problems with this latest CPU in which a number of mainstream games have been struggling to run on it. Unfortunately, since then, it seems as though more titles have been added to this list, but the company has released a temporary solution that should fix the problem until more permanent mend starts to roll out.

According to the Intel website, the company is aware of incompatibility problems between a number of AAA games and the 12900K processor. It lists such titles as Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla, Mortal Kombat 11, FIFA 19 and FIFA 20, as well as the, remaster of Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit among the list of more than 50 that are affected by the issues. However, the site does also mention a workaround that users can try. This fix is known as a “Scroll Lock workaround” which requires entering the PC’s BIOS during boot-up, enabling the “Legacy Game Compatibility” switch, and then toggling the keyboard’s Scroll Lock key to on. This should sort the problem out in the meantime.

Forza Horizon 5 is Instantly Crashing For Some Players Due to Discord Screen Share

Forza Horizon 5 players are reporting that the game crashes when trying to use Discord’s screen share feature. One such player is sebastian240z, who posted to the official Forza subreddit asking if other players were experiencing similar issues, and sure enough, this is not an isolated issue. Discord is listed as a software application on the official Forza Support page that “can cause the game to either fail to launch or crash while playing,” with Playground Games, suggesting players disable or uninstall the software for an optimal gameplay experience. People in the replies indicate that this issue was present with Forza Horizon 4 in 2018.

Some people in the comments also offer workarounds until Playground Games releases a potential fix. One method is to use Discord Canary, a developer build of the popular communication software, which seems to be working without a problem after downloading.

Players can also try running Discord as an administrator, though this solution seems to be less reliable. Lastly, players could simply stream their screen and not the game specifically, but doing so will cost them Forza Horizon 5‘s audio.

Discord won’t implement NFT integration after all

Discord has walked back its hint at integrated NFT use.

Last week on November 8, Discord CEO and co-founder Jason Citron hinted that the PC app would incorporate elements of NFTs, in a post to his Twitter account. Three days later on November 11, Citron has now poured cold water on the entire prospect, writing in the tweet below that the company has “no current plans to ship this internal concept.”

Additionally, Citron thanks everyone for their “perspectives,” and further adds that they’re “focused on protecting users from spam, scams, and fraud.” However, the co-founder also adds that there’ll be “more soon” on the matter, possibly alluding to proposed NFT integration returning at some point in the future.

This all follows after some very strong pushback from Discord users, in the three days since Citron first teased the addition of NFTs to Discord. Users replied to Citron’s original post on Twitter, writing that they’d be canceling their Discord Nitro subscriptions with immediate effect. So strong was the pushback, that Citron and Discord have apparently stamped out any NFT-related plans.

Gran Turismo 7 to Have Most Car Customization Parts in Series

A new trailer for Gran Turismo 7 shows off the game’s ambitious car customization system. The “Tuners” trailer opens with a speaker, presumably a developer at Polyphony Digital, who states, “One of the great pleasures of owning a car is being able to customize and tune it. The tiniest adjustments can make a difference.” As the trailer continues, multiple menus are presented, showing a litany of different vehicle aspects players can tinker around with, from wheel rims, spoilers, and bumpers. These are pretty typical customization options for a racing game, but according to Polypohony Digital, Gran Turismo 7 will have greatest amount of tuning parts in the series to date.

While Polyphony Digital doesn’t necessarily break down it’s customization system in this trailer, it does describe the process of modifying one’s car, with the footage showing the game’s potential gameplay loop. Customizing cars is meant to be an experience of trail and error, the speaker describes, with certain parts affecting how the car handles, performs, and corners. Players will be able to purchase new components with the game’s credit system (Cr.), with components being tailored for certain vehicle classes, those being Sports, Club Sports, Semi-Racing, Racing, and Extreme. Some of this was teased in Gran Turismo 7‘s trailer at the PlayStation Showcase 2021, but it is more fleshed out here.
