EA is Reportedly Looking to Merge With Another Company
Electronic Arts is said to have been actively exploring a sale or merge for the company, with one transaction falling through. According to Puck, Electronic Arts is in talks with some of the major corporations in the computer industry about a possible sale or merger. Apple, Amazon, Comcast-NBCUniversal, and even Disney are on the list of possible partners. According to the article, Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard “emboldened” the company to seek out potential partners to buy it.
Of course, Electronic Arts isn’t the only company considering alternatives to being acquired directly. Yves Guillemot, the CEO of Ubisoft, is said to be attempting to engage with private equity groups in order to keep control of the company. Other private equity groups are rumored to be interested in acquiring it. It just goes to demonstrate that while the market favors good deals, not all agreements are created equal.
