How to Move Houses in Sims 4

In The Sims 4, the phrase "move houses" can indicate a variety of things because players can either relocate the family's home and lot or just the house itself. Each technique contains a number of different ways to carry it out along with different options that Simmers can customize to their tastes. Do keep in mind that each technique has specific limitations and prohibited actions.

If players are replacing the previous home with a larger one while moving houses in The Sims 4, then a certain number of Simoleons will often be needed. Not to mention that they can save some money by relocating and sharing a home with another family.

Changing The House’s Location

To change the house’s location, enter Build Mode and select the Save To My Library option from the top middle screen (shaped like a folder with an arrow). After that, go to Menu, Manage Worlds, Gallery, select the saved house, and choose a lot to place it on.

The lot must be the same exact size as the house, so for example, if it’s 20x15 then the lot has to be 20x15. It can be bigger, but it will leave players with a lot of extra space. Simmers can also replace an unoccupied house with the saved lot. For those who wish to change the location of an uninhabited house to another World in The Sims 4, simply move anyone in and repeat the aforementioned steps. Possessing irreplaceable items in the house like paintings or upgraded items thanks to some extra Handiness Skill in The Sims 4, won’t stay with the family once it moves out. So, open the Inventory in Build Mode, then put every important object that cannot be replaced.

Repositioning The House

While in Build Mode in The Sims 4, choose the Move House option from the top-middle screen; the one that looks like a plus-sign (+). Here, Simmers have the option to either reposition the house or the lot. It gives a lot of freedom while building or fixing a home, as there’s an option to either move or rotate.

Moving The Household

There are multiple ways to move a family in The Sims 4:

  • Go to the Manage Worlds menu and click on the desired household. Next, click on the More option (...) and choose Move Household then select another house or an empty lot.
  • Using any Sim’s phone from the bottom left corner, click on the Travel category then select Move Household.
  • From the Manage World menu, select the Manage Households option from the top right corner. This menu shows every family Simmers have created or played in the current world. Select the desired household and place it in the wanted lot or house.
