Epic will give you a $10 coupon if you let them email you

Epic Games Store | Official Site

For a limited time, Epic Games is giving away $10 coupons to anyone who signs up for the company’s email and alerts program.

From now until November 15 at 11:59pm PST, all you need to do to bag yourself a cool $10 (or your local equivalent) in Epic money is log into your Epic account and check under communications preferences in account settings. If you’re already subscribed, check your account inventory to see if the coupon is there; if it’s not, it should arrive shortly. If you aren’t subscribed, just tick the little box next to Email Subscribe/Unsubscribe so that it’s filled in. You should have your coupon within the next 24 hours.

As for what you can spend your $10 on, obviously it’ll need to be something from the Epic Games Store. You’ll only be able to use the coupon on full games priced at $14.99 or higher, and no pre-orders, DLCs, virtual currency, or in-game purchases. Otherwise, it’s yours to spend how you want to, whether it’s on Back 4 Blood (though remember that one’s on Game Pass), the new Alan Wake remaster, or Fry Cry 6.

Twitch Says No Passwords or Credit Card Information Were Exposed in Recent Data Breach

The consequences of the massive Twitch data leak that led to 125 GB of data being taken off the platform servers and released onto the web are still playing out for viewers, streamers, and employees of the platform. However, the exact repercussions are still becoming clear, particularly for those who make their living on Twitch. Recently, Twitch announced on its blog that it is confident passwords, Twitch login credentials, full credit card numbers, and ACH/bank information were not released during the leak.

Valve bans blockchain games and NFTs on Steam, Epic will try to make it work

Games that use blockchain technology or let users exchange NFTs or cryptocurrencies won’t be allowed on Steam, according to a rule added to Valve’s “What you shouldn’t publish on Steam” list. The change was pointed out by SpacePirate, a developer working on an NFT-based game, who said that the change was because the company doesn’t allow game items that could have real-world value. But Steam could also be avoiding controversy with the move.

Epic says it’s ‘open’ to blockchain games after Steam bans them

Epic tells The Verge that it’s “open to games that support cryptocurrency or blockchain-based assets” on its game store, unlike its competitor Valve which has banned games that feature blockchain technology or NFTs from Steam. When we asked about allowing games that featured NFTs, Epic told us there’d be some limitations, but that it’s willing to work with “early developers” in the “new field.”

Epic says that the games would have to comply with financial laws, make it clear how the blockchain is used, and have appropriate age ratings. It also says that developers won’t be able to use Epic’s payment service to accept crypto; they would have to use their own payment systems instead.

EPIC WILL CLARIFY ITS RULES IN THE FUTURE

Epic’s CEO Tim Sweeney has said that the company isn’t interested in touching NFTs, but that statement now appears to only apply to its own games. Epic tells The Verge that it will clarify the rules as it works with developers to understand how they plan to use blockchain tech in their games. Sweeney also tweeted some additional thoughts after we published this story: he says Epic welcomes “innovation in the areas of technology and finance,” and suggests that blockchain isn’t inherently good or bad.
