The Division 2 is preparing for Year 5 following its unexpected comeback.

Ubisoft will expand on the game’s surprise comeback by releasing The Division 2 Year 5 after the additional seasons that were anticipated for Year 4.

The Division 2’s roadmap was recently provided by the staff at Ubisoft Massive, who are working with Ubisoft’s Bucharest, Toronto, and Shanghai studios to support continued development on the game (opens in new tab). This is the first new season for the game in around 17 months, and it debuted just two months ago with Season 9: Hidden Alliance. Late in August, Season 10 will be released with new Manhunt targets, new equipment and weapons, some of which are connected to new clothing events, increased Countdown difficulties, a Legendary difficulty for the Tidal Basin and Manning National Zoo Strongholds, and a variety of quality-of-life enhancements. Early December’s Season 11 promises much of the same in addition to a shrouded new game style.

As Massive notes, neither of these seasons are presently scheduled to include the Spec Revamp, which would fundamentally alter build-crafting. According to the company, “we are currently working on the feature and only intend to disclose the release date when we are 100 percent satisfied with the quality.”

With Season 11 coming to an end, The Division 2 won’t either. Based on the game’s current schedule, Massive says it will continue collaborating with other Ubisoft studios to develop a full-fat Year 5 roadmap, so we may anticipate additional seasonal updates in 2023.

The Division: Heartland, a free-to-play offshoot that will launch on PC and consoles later this year, will be developed in parallel to this work. A different free-to-play spinoff of The Division has also recently been released, this time for mobile devices.
