This week, Ubisoft will finally reveal gameplay for Skull & Bones.

On Thursday, July 7, during a special mini-Ubisoft Forward, Ubisoft will finally unveil some Skull & Bones gameplay.

Today’s show was announced by the publisher (opens in new tab). At 11 a.m. PT, 2 p.m. ET, 7 p.m. BST, and 8 p.m. CEST, the big revelation begins. A pre-show “packed of surprises” will begin 15 minutes early. “New gameplay, our singular take on piracy, and exclusive behind-the-scenes with devs,” promises Ubisoft.

Notably, the placeholder for the broadcast on YouTube(opens in new tab) includes a new, inactive link to “register for future live tests.” The Skull and Bones Insider program has previously been promoted by Ubisoft in relation to beta access (which has yet to occur), but the new link and language for these “live tests” suggests we may get a chance to play the game in the wild in the coming months. This will probably be covered more on the broadcast on Thursday.

Hopefully, this reveal will corroborate (or refute) the numerous rumors that have been circulating about Skull & Bones. It was reportedly going to have a major reveal in July along with a release date only last month. The latter is still pending, but now that the concert is confirmed, a date seems more likely than ever.

It remains to be seen if Skull & Bones will release in November as another report suggests. A autumn release was also predicted in earlier reports, which came as a result of stolen and now-deleted gaming footage, but they lacked specifics.

Skull and Bones has been in development limbo for a while. It was apparently revamped as of July 2020 to become more of a live service game and help it stand out from the other games in Ubisoft’s library. Following a report outlining the game’s problematic development, Ubisoft announced in July 2021 that the game has passed the alpha stage. Therefore, it only seems sense that July 2022 will hopefully provide us with a substantial portion of gameplay and, if we’re lucky, a release date.
